There is an airport about 10 km outside Blenheim, and a ferry from Wellington to Picton.

Marlborough's Wairau plains are a major New Zealand winegrowing region and the home of a number of major wineries. Vineyard tours are a significant attraction. There is a wine map here.
The main varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
