Get in

By boat from Sochi (ru) or Ukrain (Illlichevsk, close to Odessa). Ukrain seems $145, one way, 42 hour, and not so regularly. More boats are operated from Poti (5 Lari with marchutka, 1 hours' ride) in a kind of Freighter travel roll-on-roll-off but maybe call first to make inquries before you return from Poti 'empty handed'. The bookingoffice is on Kutaiski 34, but the staff is only barking Russian, and not very helpful. From the terminal in the center small boats to Sotchi and Poti are operated.

Get around

  • There are two Marshutka stations. One has minibusses further into Georgia to Kutaiski, Tiblisi, Poti, etc., the other on (Tiblisi square) has marshutkas to Sarpi, the bordercrossing with Turkey. The latter cost 2 Lari.
  • Trainstation with (night) trains to Tblisi

See

The Black Sea: In Batumi self you can enjoy the waves and admire the oil port. Between Poti and Batumi lies Kobuleti, a inspireless beach resort, where many Georgians and Armenians spend their holidays. There is not much to be seen, beside the pebble beach. To the south of Batumi the coast is supposed to be more spectaculair.
