The island is actually a volcanic caldera, so the interior lagoon is well protected from the outside waters, which means you will get some of the most spectacular beaches and waters anywhere. Take a jet ski tour around the interior island. Well worth the effort.

You can also do horseback riding along the atolls on the fringe of Bora Bora, as well as water skiing, biking and probably some other activities like hiking. Easiest to book through your hotel as they will know all the various activities that are available.

Water Activities: Snorkeling and Scuba

Several tour companies operate scuba and snorkeling activities.

  • Moana Adventure Tours and Cruises, http://www.moanatours.com/ Moana Tours operates a Shark & Ray Snorkel Safari. A tour operator will pick you up from the hotel or Moana dock, and take you to several stops around the lagoon. Ray feeding is typically done in shallow waters inside the lagoon. For the shark feeding, the boat operator may take you a few hundred meters into the Pacific, where 10-20 small sharks may swim about the boat, largely avoiding any snorkelers courageous enough to swim near.

  • Bloody Mary's. There are not a lot of restaurants in Bora Bora, but this is one famous and very good one. Outside they have a pair of big boards with the names on all of the famous people who have eaten there, e.g. Pamela Anderson, Pierce Brosnan, Marlon Brando, and Janet Jackson.
  • Bamboo House. This restaurant's name refers only to the setting, not the cuisine. The Bamboo House serves up French Polynesian fare for reasonable prices. The restaurant is located about halfway between Vaitape and Hotel Bora Bora.
  • TOPdive Restaurant.

  • Hotel Bora Bora - Small, exclusive hotel with overwater bungalows on the best location on the island,
  • Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort and Spa - http://www.pearlresorts.com/bora/main.php. The Bora Bora Pearl has 50 over-water bungalows, and 30 more beach and garden bungalows. This small resort is located off the main island, on the island motu Tevairoa. In order to get to the main island, regular boat shuttles take guests from the hotel's dock to a dock in Faanui, on the main island's north western end.
