When the ships are in port, the open air bazars are full of bustle, and the shops (all duty free)are packed. Because the city is the capital, there are many government buildings. Shopping for the tourist is the primary custom. Bargaining is encouraged, so the tourist is warned to know how to judge the quality of your purchases. Gems, watches, cameras, etc. are all good bargains, whether you can bargain hard or not; because of the lack of import duty when you take them back to the U.S. Be advised there is a dollar limit for each person, and you MUST declare the value of your purchases. Cards for Customs will be filled out on the flight to the U.S. or before debarking the cruise ship. Liquor shops will package your bottles and deliver them to your ship or to the airport so you need not worry about carrying them with you.
