Islands of the Atlantic Ocean Travel Guide

The islands of the Atlantic Ocean are not often dealt with as a whole.
The most numerous group are the West Indies and their neighbors, southeast of North America, east of Central America, and north of South America. Although part of the Atlantic, they form their own region: the Caribbean.
The near-polar islands to the far north and south are classified here as islands of the Arctic Ocean and Southern Ocean.
The remaining islands run intermittently from the southwestern tip of Europe, across the equator, to the open waters of the South Atlantic.
