Understand

In the Middle Ages the houses of the Nowy Swiat (literal: New World) were made of wood and poorer craftsmen lived there. The Royal Mills Creek (Mlynowka Krolewska) was flowing there until the 19th century. As the name suggest several mills have been there in the Middle Ages. There are a lot of fine 19th century houses (especially along the Pilsudski Street), three beautiful churches, two monastries, the Vistula Boulevards and university biuldings in this part of town.
