Wesola is a part of Krakow in Poland. It is in the district Centrum east of the Old Town.

Understand
In the Middle Ages the houses of the Wesola (literal: happy) were made of wood and poorer craftsmen lived there. There are a lot of fine 19th century hospital biuldings (especially along the Copernicus Street), three beautiful churches, the oldest Polish botanic garden, two museums (ul. Radziwillowska and ul. Zyblikieicza), a monumental biulding of the PKO Bank from the early 20th century and the main post office in this part of town.

Churches
- Church of the Immaculate Conception of St. Mary with the monastery of Discalced Carmelites was built in 1634 in baroque style. The finest of the furnishings is the high altar in black marble.
- Church of St. Nicolaus - romanique church first mentioned in 1229 Pope Georg IX, probably from the late 11th century. Later rebiult in gothic style.
- Basilica Of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus - monumental neogothic Jesuit Church erected in 1909 by Franciszek Maczynski. Its architecture and the decoration and furnishings are among the best examples of modern sacred art in Poland. The interior is neorenaissance and secession. Huge sculptures by Xawery Dunikowski, Karol Hukan and Jan Bukowski are very worth seeing.
