Limerick (Gaelic: Luimneach) [1] is a city in the southwest of Ireland.

Understand

Limerick is probably Ireland's last unspoiled city. From a tourist point of view it might not seem to hold the same allure as Cork or Galway, but it is a perfect vantage point to view the Irish culture and the way in which "the Irish" behave when they are not being "observed". Only twenty minutes by bus from Shannon Airport, Limerick is well worth spending a few hours in at least.

Bus services run to Limerick from Cork, Galway and Dublin.

Bus Eireann [2] operates services that call at Limerick City's Colbert Station.

By train

Train services run from Dublin and Cork.

Irish Rail [3] operate services that stop at Limerick City's Colbert Station.

Get around

Public Bus services are available in Limerick but the city is quite contained and everything is within walking distance.
