The Jungang line from Seoul's Chongnyangni station serves Jecheon and Danyang. The Chungbuk line from Bongyang (near Jecheon) to Jochiwon, on the main Seoul-Busan Line, passes through the province lengthwise, stopping at both Cheongju and Chungju along the way.

Somewhat surprisingly for a landlocked province, one of the more famous Chungcheong dishes is chueotang (추어탕), a spicy, hearty stew made from minced loach (mudfish), potatoes, mushrooms, rice cakes and anything else lying around.
