From Wikitravel
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, is a city on the North Saskatchewan River. Named after Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert is known as the "Gateway to the North". Recently, the local pulp and paper mill announced its closure after serving as the community's primary economic engine for approximately 60-75 years. The good news is, Prince Albert is now poised to become an exciting new hub for calling centres.

Get in
There is an airport in Prince Albert(YPA), but not alot of commercial flights go in and out. Flights into nearby Saskatoon are frequent(YXE), along with car rental agencies at the airport itself. Air Canada and WestJet are the two big carriers in Saskatoon. Most people arriving into Prince Albert, or P.A. as the locals call it, is by car. Highway #11 is a busy highway that connects Prince Albert to Saskatoon, the closest "big city" as it's known. There's also highway #3 to the south of the city, as well as highway #2.
There is also a provincial bus company called STC, or Saskatchewan Transportaion Company, which is owned and operated by the Province of Saskatchewan. STC stops in just about every small town in Saskatchewan, and offers decent service to Prince Albert.
Get around
Most everyone drives in Prince Albert, even though there is a city bus service that is very good. Or you can walk. Taxis are also another excellent option.
See
John G. Diefenbaker's residence, once a Prime Minister of Canada, can be found here. Prince Albert National Park, a favorite getaway spot in the summertime, is only a short 45 minute drive away. Considered "short" among the locals due to it's proximity to Prince Albert as opposed to Saskatoon.
Do
When asked, pretty much every local will tell you there's nothing to do, because of the "small town mentality" commonly found in Saskatchewan. There are numerous campgrounds nearby, especially in Prince Albert National Park (which makes a scenic drive), Waskesiu Lake (Whisky Slough, as it's affectionatly known) is a particularily charming summer resort to visit, although closed throughout the winter, so make sure to book in advance. And no, it's not a slough. Fishing and hunting in northern Saskatchewan is considered the best in Canada; quite a number of americans come up during the summer to fish and hunt, and to take in the local scenery.
The wintertime also presents its own activities in Prince Albert. There are a few outdoor outfits that can take you icefishing, which is an experience in itself. Be sure to check availability and book ahead of time. Skiing is also present, although there are many stereotypical jokes about the lack of mountains in Saskatchewan, "there are some sure big hills, hyuk hyuk!", but don't let it discourage you.
There are also many festivals that occur throughout the year "up in P.A.", so be sure to check them out and figure out what time of year is best to come. The internet would be your best bet to find out which festivals are on at what time.
Buy
Gateway Mall, located in downtown Prince Albert, has a few nice shops here and there, the downtown core also is worth venturing out into, there's a few shops that are tucked away, so it's best to walk around - it doesn't take long anyway. But try not to get caught downtown after dark, just excercise common sense. Don't miss Cornerstone Mall either, home to the city's newest restaurant, Ricky's, as of this writing. Most of the locals say it's pretty good, and it's worth a visit.
Eat
As mentioned, Ricky's is a nice establishment, not to mention Amy's on Second, if you feel like chinese. WK Kitchen, another chinese restaurant, proudly proclaims to have the biggest buffet selection in Saskatchewan. I'm not sure if this is true, but if you feel REALLY adventurous, put that statement to the test by visiting every chinese buffet-style restaurant in Saskatchewan (there are quite a few). Interestingly, the city's phone book also doubles as a restaurant guide, so it's worth checking out the phone book from time to time.
Drink
As mentioned futher up, most of the locals will tell you drinking is the only thing to do in Prince Albert. For those who don't drink, there's a number of excellent coffeehouses tucked away in the downtown area, one is called "The Bison" they also serve a small selection of snacks, so it's worth a visit.
Alcohol:
There's more than a few places to get a drink in Prince Albert, including the two Province-run liquor stores located in the city. Prince Albert was once home to Sick's Brewery, originators of Bohemian Lager, one of the proudest accomplishments of Saskatchewan. For country music, Prince Albert has an abundance of country music bars. Belly Up is a nice place, albeit small inside(makes it feel cozy);just out of the downtown area. Kickers is south of the city, a particular local hotspot on the weekends. Six Shooters Saloon is another nice place. For those who don't like country, JT's Lounge is a great place, Thursday nights has a comedy night, with the occasional open-mic night thrown into the mix. One can also just ask around about where's a good place to find a drink.
NOTE: Be wary as to how you ask to get a drink. Say "Where's a good place to get a beer?" Asking 'where can I get a drink?' would most likely get you a glass of water.
Stay safe
As with any drinking establishment, excercise caution when leaving a bar late at night. Bored kids hang out in the downtown area that seem to cause trouble to anyone that looks at them funny. So just use common sense.
Sleep
Prince Albert has a number of decent hotels, including the newly-built Days Inn, which has a very nice reputation for a great place to stay; there's also a Super 8 and a Comfort Inn found here; South Hill Inn is also a good place to stay.
Get out
Almost any highway will let you out of the city. Highway #11 again will get you back to Saskatoon, and simply follow the signs back to the airport.
Prince Albert is an excellent place to get away to; visitors have noted the pace of life as being the biggest thing they've noticed, because it's never hectic unless you allow it to become so.
