Welcome to Wikitravel. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thanks for your contributions to Sierra Leone and Freetown! But please check out Talk:Freetown for a few formatting issues. Jpatokal 04:01, 30 Apr 2005 (EDT)
- Can I ask what you do for a living? Your destinations are all amazingly off the beaten track. Jpatokal 02:31, 14 Oct 2005 (EDT)
- I travel around setting up broadcast radio transmitters for organisations like the BBC. That usually takes me to developing and particualrly 'post conflict' countries. I have just seen your comments on Freetown - fair enough! I am learing this wiki thing. I hope this is right way to reply to your questions! I have just arrived in Tashkent which is holiday, so I started a page for that. I usually have net access where I go, so I play with the pages when I am bored. I'll have to spend some time reading the help pages!
- Don't fret the small stuff too much — others will hop in to fix in little bugs, and you've doing a great job so far. Jpatokal 07:55, 16 Oct 2005 (EDT)
Travellers' pub discussion
There's a discussion in the travellers' pub about whether we should have an article on "War zone safety". Care to comment? Pashley 00:46, 12 June 2006 (EDT)
- Would you be willing to get that type of article started, since you have more experience than the rest of us in hostile political landscapes? I'll send an email off to the Pentagon to see what information they could offer. - Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 16:37, 14 June 2006 (EDT)
- I will give it some thought. I guess the first thing is to come up with a template. I am off to Kinshasa for a week, so I may not have net access for a while or could be too busy. I will look at it though.David Stanley

War zone safety
Thanks for all the great work on the article! I really wasn't expecting the article to come along so fast. Pentagon hasn't got back to me on my request for info, but I'm due to meet up with an Kentucky National Guard Recruiter this week and might ask him if they have any field guides available. Thanks again! - Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 05:34, 26 June 2006 (EDT)
