Wikitravel:Links to Open Directory Travel Guide
From Wikitravel
Wikitravel's goals include providing a complete and reliable guide for both on-line and off-line use by travellers.
However, we don't want to clutter our guides with links to every Web site related to a subject. We explicitly have forming a Web directory as a non-goal.
In order to provide service to those travellers seeking lots of Web links, we have a feature to add TwinPages links to Open Directory topics on the same subject. Just as our links to Wikipedia provide an encyclopedic perspective on a destination, links to Open Directory provide a Web-directory perspective on the same destination.
Making links to Open Directory
To add a twin-pages link to an Open Directory page on the same topic, add a link in this format to the bottom of the page:
- [[Dmoz:Path/To/Destination]]
The path to the destination is the slash-separated part of the Open Directory page URL that follows http://dmoz.org/Regional/.
For example, Canada has a twin page link to [[Dmoz:North America/Canada]].
Twin-page links will appear in the "Other sites/languages" section of article pages.
Order
Links to Open Directory should appear after any links to other language versions of Wikitravel, and after links to Wikipedia.
